Hawaii - Big Island

The first three days we stayed in a B&B located in Hilo. (which was ok, but compared to the one on Maui…rather disappointing) During our stay we booked two "adventure" tours, which i mentioned in another post.  The other three days on this island, we stayed in a very nice 4 star resort called "Mauna Lani bay" located near Kona. It was beautiful there! I would highly recommend it to anybody who likes luxurious resorts and just wants to relax! Although our room was on the lower ground -  it was really, really nice... we still could see the ocean. Even though it is quite a huge resort, surprisingly the beach and pool were mostly unvisited and it was very quiet there. The sunsets at the hotel's beach were incredibly beautiful. Even turtles could be seen at this beach.

During our time in Hilo on Big Island, we booked a horse riding tour. We rode about 1,5 hours through a famous valley called "Waipio" or "Valley of Kings". It was an exceptional experience - it was the first time for me riding a horse and i loved it. The horses were well trained, so no riding experience was required to participate. However, I must admit I was a little worried, because nobody was wearing a helmet.  In the end everything went well - luckily no accidents happened ;)
The tour cost about 90 dollars per person and was definitely worth the money.

In addition to the horse riding tour we booked a helicopter flight on Big Island! Well…actually my husband booked it as a surprise ;)  If you are afraid of flying this is probably not the right thing for you! The flight cost about 150 dollar per person and as well as the riding tour it was totally worth the money. We definitely enjoyed it. Who wouldn't? We had almost one hour an amazing view on the island, the ocean and volcanoes.
